The capital comes first

Tourism Antananarivo is an independent English-language guide to Madagascar’s capital, its urban fabric and the practical questions that shape a visit. Nearby heritage is clearly labelled as a separate destination. Ambohimanga is not presented as a central-city neighbourhood.

This is not a government or tourism authority website, and it does not operate the tours or accommodation shown by independent providers. Their own descriptions, booking terms and current arrangements govern those services.

How we approach the guide

The articles use primary references and original practical framing. They do not claim firsthand visits or invent local contributors. Historical context is kept separate from current visitor information, and a photograph does not establish present access or business operation.

Our principal references include the national tourism office’s city overview, the Haute Ville Tentative List record and the Royal Hill of Ambohimanga World Heritage description. These describe different places and statuses.
